Test practice for reading skills is a survival skill for students, and a predictor of long-term employability for teachers.
With the current “raising-test-scores fever,” teachers find daily stress levels rising, and they find their jobs on the line. “Whether to teaching to the test, or not” faded as an academic discussion, and teaching to the test is now a “ticket” to remain employed.
